Three people were arrested yesterday near Katherine after an alert citizen had earlier found a bag containing alcohol and drugs.

The man found a quantity of alcohol and a bag containing cannabis in a garden bed next to a fuel station in Adelaide River yesterday about 12.30pm.
While he was on the phone to police, a green Landcruiser pulled up, allegedly demanding the bag back.
The man said police had been contacted and the vehicle's occupants allegedly fled the scene.
Police traveled to the fuel station and seized the alcohol and the bag, containing 224 grams of cannabis and recent boarding passes with the identities of the alleged offenders.
About five hours later, around 5.30pm, police stopped the suspect vehicle on the Stuart Highway about 7km north of Katherine.
The occupants of the vehicle were conveyed to Katherine Watch House.
The 27-year-old male driver was charged with:
- possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - traffickable quantity - public place
- drive low range drink driving
- drive unlicensed
- drive with child not using restraint
- drive vehicle with defect label
- smoke in vehicle with child under 16
Two 25-year-old male passengers were charged with:
- possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - traffickable quantity - public place
- adult passenger fail to wear seatbelt
- give false information
- possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - public place
- smoke in vehicle with child under 16
A 25-year-old female passenger was also present at the time. She was issued with a notice to appear for:
- possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - traffickable quantity - public place
- adult passenger fail to wear seatbelt
- give false information
All four offenders are due to appear in Alyangula Local Court on September 15.
