It lends itself seamlessly to the laidback, summer-loving Aussie lifestyle, while maintaining the sense of class and sophistication the Hamptons style is known for.
What is the Hamptons home design style?
The style is based on the American version of the French interior design styles Baroque, Rococo and Empire.
Exteriors are usually cladded in shingles or weatherboards and adopt masculine features like stately columns and statement windows.
Interiors are usually light and bright with a sense of class coupled with a beach vibe for an effortless and calming appeal.
Unsurprisingly, the Hamptons style seems to be most at home in coastal Queensland, where it is becoming increasingly accessible to everyday Aussies through project home offerings.
Angela Haughton from Coral Homes, says the Hamptons look is reminiscent of the 'Queenslander' homes style, making it easy to showcase in suburbs that value traditional character and heritage.
The Coral Homes New Hampshire 33 display home at Broadbeach Waters, Queensland, exudes the Hamptons charm while redefining the spatial and design boundaries this expansive style can have, as it fits comfortably in a 10 metre wide block.
As property sizes shrink and smaller homes become the new norm, Australians are looking to build affordable and stylish homes which maximise living space.
The New Hampshire 33 design manages to feel spacious despite its modest width.
Its open-plan layout embodies the spaciousness of the Hamptons look, while giving it a contemporary Australian twist.
"We decided to create New Hampshire 33 as a modern Hamptons take on the Queenslander and Australian Federation style homes," Angela says.
"The interpretation combines a love of entertaining, coastal living and America, but adds cleaner lines and scales back ornamentation to meet Australian tastes."
The properties are part of the evolving Australian Hamptons trend with weatherboards dominating the aesthetic.
Linea Weatherboards by James Hardie have become a popular choice for executing the Hamptons look in Australia.
Made from thick boards of fibre cement, they create deep, defined shadow lines to evoke the texture of shingles used in the US.
The generous indoor-outdoor integration in the home is a key feature of the Hamptons look, while tying into the Australian lifestyle.
By opening up the rear of the home through French double-stacker doors from the kitchen to the alfresco area and pool surround, the living areas feel more open.
Decking creates a seemingly continuous flooring out into the garden and pool.
These elements work in harmony to showcase a classic Hamptons aesthetic.
The elegant feature walls are painted in classic Hamptons soft coastal blue hues, acting as a striking contrast to the neutral palette that flows through the home.
Natural materials and fabrics for both furniture and homewares are favoured in Hamptons style interiors.
They set the focus for texture in the home itself, such as timber and stone.
When styling your Hamptons home, find inspiration in pieces made from timber, leather, linen, cotton and wool to compliment the relaxed, natural, yet luxe, Hamptons appeal.
