Chasing 173 for victory, Mitch Marsh was the hero for Australia on Sunday as he whacked an unbeaten 77 from 50 balls to set up the win with seven balls to spare.
David Warner also hit 53 from 38 as part of a 92-run second-wicket stand with Marsh, ending a 14-year wait for Australia to claim the one trophy that has eluded them.
Vaccine deadline for Vic aged care workers
All Victorian residential aged care staff must now be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to continue going to work.
Anyone with a valid medical exemption will be able to continue working.
Meanwhile, the state government will direct $20 million to help reignite the state's live music and festival scene.
NSW row over virus worker protections
Labor and unions have slammed a NSW government plan to roll back a special COVID-19 protection for workers as harsh, unnecessary and "a stab in the back".
Premier Dominic Perrottet says he intends scrapping a provision in the state's Workers Compensation Act allowing for the presumption that frontline workers who test positive caught the virus while on duty.
The government estimates keeping the protection could invite 25,000 extra claims over the next 12 months, forcing insurance premiums up by an average of $950.
Interest rate rise to spell trouble
Two-thirds of Australians believe a full one percentage point rise in interest rates would put pressure on their financial position.
A survey commissioned by the Finance Brokers Association of Australia found around half of those surveyed said they would need to look at refinancing their home if their mortgage repayments went up $300 a month.
When asked whether they would be able to meet such an increase, the survey of just over 1000 respondents found 57 per cent answered "not at all".
China, India must explain coal move
China and India will need to explain to developing nations why they pushed to water down language on efforts to phase out coal at the COP26 conference, the event's president Alok Sharma says.
UN climate talks in Glasgow, Scotland, ended on Saturday with a deal that targeted fossil fuels for the first time.
But India, backed by China and other coal-dependent developing nations, rejected a clause calling for a "phase out" of coal-fired power, and the text was changed to "phase down".
