Highly praised by the judges for a preparing a delicious crab dish, Lynton along with four other contestants played “Blindman’s Pantry”, with five minutes to select ingredients in complete darkness.
The 25-year-old Territory stockman is one of 19 contestants out of 22 vying for the estimated $250,000 cash prize and the opportunity to elevate his cooking career.
Lynton told the Katherine Times that mystery box challenges were “always tricky”.
“It is always tough, that pushes us to think outside the box,” Lynton said.
“At times you don’t know how you are going to get everything done in the time allocated, but it is not an option to give up, you just have to keep going.”
His younger sister, Emily Tapp said she had watched every episode of the show from her home in Brisbane, where she is studying a Bachelor of Business.
“I wanted him to win the immunity challenge, where they cook to stay safe (from elimination),” she said.
She said Lynton’s cooking skills had progressed with each challenge he had been presented with.
“I know Lynton very well, he is very studious he will do the hard yards, study and will work to perfect a skill,” she said.
Lynton said Emily had inspired him to go on the show after the food lover spent eight months assisting her at a rehabilitation centre in America last year, after she broke her back in a horse riding accident.
Lynton has over 1300 members on The Lynton Tapp “Masterchef” Support Group Facebook page, which is being managed by his family, while Lynton lives in lock-down in Victoria with the show’s contestants, where they have little contact with the outside world.
His aunt Toni Tapp Coutts has been encouraging people to send letters of support to her nephew: PO Box 623, Ascot Vale, Victoria 3023.
“Apparently all the Masterchef contestants are getting lots of letters and postcards of support except Lynton, so show your support and write to Lynton Tapp,” she said.
