On the back of last Saturday’s successful junior sign-on, which attracted 14 players, Katherine and District Cricket Association is encouraging any senior players wanting to participate in the 2015 Twenty20 season to be at the sportsground nets at 9am.
The season will begin on April 18, and players will be required to pay an $80 membership fee and a $10 match fee.
KDCA president Melinda Sauer said the junior sign-on had exceeded expectations but added that more players were needed to make the season a success.
“It was a great turnout of juniors from 11 to 14, but it’s not too late to sign up,” she said.
“Players aged from five to 11 who are interested in participating in our MILO in2CRICKET program can contact the association, and their games will be held on Sunday mornings.
“We’d love to see interested parents assist with MILO in2CRICKET as well.”
NT Cricket will be running a junior skills camp for KDCA members aged from 11 to 14 on April 1 at 4.30pm, and the association is also seeking players from 14 to 17 to sign up for an NT Institute of Sport cricket camp later in April.
“Kids in this age group will get the opportunity to try out for NT rep teams,” Mrs Sauer said.
“KDCA is also looking for volunteers to assist with umpiring, coaching and scoring, with courses for those interested to be run through NT Cricket.”
