NT Police are calling for witnesses to an incident in which a baby was thrown by a man in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Members of the public help police later arrest the man.
It is alleged around noon on Saturday the man approached a 36-year-old woman who was sitting on an oval in the Gillen area and became involved in a verbal argument.
It is further alleged the man verbally threatened the woman before picking up and throwing the one-year-old child a distance, causing him to land on his head.
The man attempted to flee the area, but was followed by members of the public before being arrested by police.
The child sustained no visible injuries and was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital for observation.
The man has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Aggravated Recklessly endanger serious harm is due to appear before court today.
