Speaking at Budget Estimates on Wednesday Natasha Fyles said 'Katherine does not have a newspaper' multiple times.
She was answering questions about advertising new liquor applications and variations in regional communities.
"In Katherine, where you do not have a local newspaper, perhaps a letterbox drop to surrounding residents (is acceptable advertising)," she said at the time.
The Katherine Times speaks regularly to Ms Fyles, including yesterday when she confirmed breast screening will not be available in Katherine this year.
Ms Fyles blamed the pressure of parliament for her mistake and apologised.
"Yesterday, in my portfolio budget estimate hearings, I incorrectly stated Katherine doesn't have a newspaper," she said.
"I unreservedly apologise to the Katherine Times for this error made under pressure in the heat of the moment.
"The Katherine Times play an important role in keeping the residents of Katherine and surrounding communities informed on local, Territory based and national news."
