Commonwealth Games gold medallist and IMP director Robert de Castella presented Mrs Braun with her completion certificate at an official graduation ceremony on March 10.
Mr de Castella made special mention of Mrs Braun’s resilience, integrity and strength, and said the Katherine local represented everything for which IMP stood.
“You can’t bluff your way through 42 kilometres like the marathon in New York – you’ve got to take every single stride yourself and it’s a hell of an achievement,” Mr de Castella said.
Mrs Braun joined 43 IMP alumni who passed on their fitness achievements, courage and messages of wellbeing to their respective communities.
Thanking her close friends, family, and IMP mentors, Mrs Braun also said that her personal development journey was dedicated to every member of the Katherine community.
“As an Aboriginal person, I feel like my achievements reflect my community, and I am grateful for all of the support Katherine has given me,” she said.
