Following the advice of NT Park Rangers, organisers abandoned plans to run the race in the water with the very real threat of a lurking saltwater crocodile.
“Parks and Wildlife have advised us not to go anywhere near the river with people,” a spokeswoman from the school said.
The race was held on the banks of the Low Level road with crocs flowing down a plastic orange slip and slide.
A man named Jason with crocodile number 118, was the lucky winner and scored a $1000 cash prize.
