The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge will see 48 teams representing 21 nations make the long journey from Darwin To Adelaide in solar powered vehicles.
A team from the BWSC headed to Casuarina Street Primary School today to talk all things solar power.
Kimberley Jackson and Matthew Siviour from Flinders University School along with members of the Aurora Evolution solar team ran activities for the Year Four students today.
”The whole point of the outreach program is to promote the solar challenge and to develop students science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) thinking,” Mr Siviour said.
“It ties in really well with what they are learning, the students have been building model solar cars to compete in the school model solar car competition in Darwin.
“We showed them the car and technology inside and then related that back to what they are learning. We also have been helping them out with their model cars and answering questions and giving a few hints,” he said.
“The challenge will come through Katherine on Sunday, October 8 and all of the cars will be stopping at the Katherine weighbridge between midday and 5pm.”
