Katherine Fire Station firefighters are about to beginning their wet season fuel reduction burn program.
“As weather permits we will be using low intensity burning to reduce the fuel loads in strategic areas around the town,” a station spokesman said.
“These areas may not have burnt last year so we will use low intensity fires to reduce the excess fuel loads prior to the grasses drying out.”
