Twelve students from Years 4, 5, and 6 – some of whom had never played together – competed in an AFL tournament at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
Playing against 225 other girls, and 23 teams, the Katherine team won.
Not only that, they won every game along the way to reach the grand final in the Pink Power competition.
The 2018 Pink Power Gala Day was a huge success, according to organisers.
For the first time Clyde Fenton Primary School from Katherine who were participants, made the three hour drive to Darwin and ended up winning the Grand Final against Jingili Primary School.
AFLNT manager of Club and Game Development, Emily Wastle, was extremely pleased with how successful the day was.
“It was fantastic to see lots of girls giving footy a go and most importantly having lots of fun.
“We hope to see these girls continue their football and playing in the All Girls Thunder Juniors competition, which kicks off later this month,” Wastle said.
The grand final result:
Clyde Fenton 7.7 (49) d Jingili 0.2 (2).
