Horses for Courses founder Tiani Cook is saddling up to cross the NT to raise awareness of issues facing Aussie bush kids.

In its second year, the 2018 'Horses for Courses' Ride for Bush Kids will wrap up in Alice Springs.
Ms Cook will head a group of riders from Glen Helen Resort on October 6, riding through the spectacular West McDonald Ranges and finish up just in time for the Alice Springs Masters Games.
Mother of four children, Ms Cook lives and works on the most geographically isolated cattle station in Australia, Suplejack Downs Station, 1020 kilometres south of Darwin.
Although the distance of the ride this year has decreased, the energy around raising awareness has not, Ms Cook said.
“We're hoping to include as many people as possible through some good ol' fashion hospitality; campfire cook ups, sing-alongs, the sharing of horse riding tips and as much fun along the way as we can muster up,” Ms Cook said.
“Together we’re raising awareness of the issues aussie bush kids face; educational inequities, boarding school blues, distance education challenges and social isolation implications effecting mental health.
Bush kids are tough and resilient, but we want them to know they’re not alone,” Ms Cook said.
Last year, Ms Cook and Natuccia Walker rode their horses 1,000kms from Ms Cook’s home at Suplejack Downs Staion, in the Northern Tanami, across the NT to Darwin.
Along with support crew, Rod & Norma Litfin and Marg & Dennis Kelly, who were there every step of the way, the girls were in the saddle for over a month.
