The Department of Defence will update Katherine on the investigation into PFAS contamination on Monday, June 18 at 5pm.
The Community Walk-in Session, at Knotts Crossing Resort, will give Katherine residents information from the investigation team, who will be discussing the progress of their research.
The investigation team will also be able to answer questions about the Human Health Risk Assessment.
The Department of Defence is also holding a Community Shopfront in the Woolworths Complex for residents to find out more about the environmental investigations.
The shopfront will be open on Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 20 between 10.30am to 6pm.

The Department of Defence engaged an independent environmental consultant in March 2017, to conduct an environmental investigation into PFAS.
The investigation involved sampling of soil, sediment, groundwater and surface water both on and off the RAAF base, as well as bore drilling.
The investigation report was published in February 2018 and will inform the Human Health Risk Assessment and Ecological Risk Assessment.
An Interim Human Health Risk Assessment has been completed, which aims to evaluate the potential risks of PFAS
exposure.
According the Australian Government Department of Defence, “A comprehensive Human Health Risk Assessment will
examine all identified PFAS exposure routes and inform
future advice provided by government agencies and
authorities on minimising risk from PFAS. The report is
expected to be released mid-2018.”
