There will be a big community fireworks from 8.15pm.
Tourism Minister Lauren Moss today announced the Territory Day 40th anniversary signature events.
“Celebrating the significance of the occasion, the Territory Day events are opportunities for people and communities to come together to celebrate everything we love about living in the Territory - our lifestyle, the people, the landscape, the culture, our achievements and our diverse communities.”
In Katherine, in association with Katherine Town Council, from 5.30pm at the Katherine Showgrounds, The Veronica’s will be supported by Caiti Baker and Craig Phillips.
“It’s wonderful to have such well-known international, national and Territory artists, as well as emerging and community artists participating in our celebrations throughout the Territory,” Ms Moss said.
To ensure as many Territorians as possible can participate, the NT Government is also supporting free, family friendly events in 16 locations across the Territory – from Tiwi Islands, Galiwinku, Yuendumu and more.
These celebrations are in addition to the Territory Day community event grants that were awarded earlier this year which will enable 29 community Territory Day events and activities.
“We are supporting exciting events across the NT including comedy shows, photographic displays, community forums and sporting events,” Ms Moss said.
“These events are being held over the next four months, providing a wide range of opportunities to engage with Territory stories, culture and achievement.”
