Evie Rosas was welcomed into the world early yesterday morning at 3.30am.
With the whole family waiting in anticipation, one of the newest additions to Katherine was born on a busy delivery night.
“The nurses were run ragged a little, but they were really amazing and made sure we were really looked after,” new dad Mr Rosas said.
Most excited of all about the new family member was big sister Stella Rosas, two, who could barely contain her joy.
Having raised Stella in the small Aboriginal community, Barunga, located approximately 80 kilometres from Katherine, the new parents are looking forward to life in a slightly bigger town.
“There were some challenges in raising a child in a smaller place, less staff and less services available,” Mr Rosas said.
But it was ultimately family ties which lured the young couple back to Katherine.
“All of Nathan’s family is here,” Ms Lean said.
“We are looking forward to more family support and all of the community based things to get involved in,” she said.
