Two tents for growing cannabis were found by police yesterday in a Katherine bedroom.

The police raid uncovered eight mature cannabis plants within the tents as well as a range of ammunition, fireworks and handcuffs.
The two tents in the main bedroom of the residence were being utilised as hydroponic growing tents, police have alleged.
“Yesterday afternoon police in Katherine executed a search warrant and discovered two tents in the main bedroom of a residence which were being utilised as hydroponic grow tents,” a police spokeswoman said.
A 47-year-old female and a 25-year-old man have been issued a notice to appear in Katherine Local Court on October 25.
During a further search of the residence police located and seized:
- six harvested cannabis plants;
- 347 grams of cannabis plant material;
- three grams of cannabis seeds;
- Hydroponic growing equipment and associated chemicals;
- A quantity of unsecured ammunition; and
- A quantity of fireworks.
The 47-year-old female was issued a notice to appear in Katherine Local Court for cultivating a trafficable quantity of a prohibited plant, possessing a trafficable quantity of a schedule two dangerous drug, possessing ammunition without a licence and possessing fireworks outside an approved period.
The 25-year-old man has also been issued a notice to appear in Katherine Local Court for cultivating a trafficable quantity of a prohibited plant, possessing a trafficable quantity of a schedule two dangerous drug and possessing a schedule two dangerous drug.
Both are scheduled to appear in court in October.
