In a media release on Monday March 25, Glencore confirmed McArthur River Mine restarted zinc processing, and mining operations were returning to normal as workers returned to site after being evacuated on Friday March 22.
"All our workforce have remained safe and our infrastructure and water management systems are in excellent condition," a Glencore spokesperson said.
"At Bing Bong, our staff and the crew of the MV Aburri returned to work Sunday afternoon. and Haulage operations from MRM to Bing Bong have recommenced.
"We would like to thank the Northern Territory Police Service and the Australian Defence Force for their guidance and assistance throughout the past few days."
Glencore temporarily suspended mining operations onsite and operations a Bing Bong loading facility on Friday March 22 as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Trevor hit the Northern Territory coast as a category 4 cyclone.
Majority of Glencore workers were evacuated in line with its standard cyclone procedures.
"However 120 remained onsite, including some senior managers to maintain mine infrastructure and water management," a Glencore spokesperson said.
"Our first priority was the safety of our people and we have well-practiced procedures in place for cyclone events."
