All five of Katherine's primary schools took part in the event last Wednesday, which is considered the most prestigious intersport school sport event in the Big Rivers Region.
Casuarina Street Primary School in Katherine East took out the top spot, battling Clyde Fenton Primary School in the grand final and winning 3 - 2.
Sport Education Coordinator for the Big Rivers Region, Sam Clark, said the sport and the competition was becoming more popular with girls each year.
"With more girls participating in this mixed gender event each year, it's great to have an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone," she said.
"Teachers throughout the day were very impressed with everyone's sportsmanship and encouragement on and off the field.
"All students put on an excellent display of rugby league all day, laying fierce tackles and scoring thrilling tries."

Ms Clark also commended the six Katherine High School students who volunteered their time to referee the games.
"The quality they provided was outstanding, being great role models for the younger students of Katherine," she said.
