The second COVID-19 positive case in Katherine is a 55-year-old unvaccinated man who was a household contact of the original case.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner on Friday afternoon said that the man was symptomatic and thought to have been infectious since Wednesday.
"He has been isolating since Wednesday evening and is currently in the Centre for National Resilience in Howard Springs," Mr Gunner said on his Facebook page.

At a late-night press conference on Thursday the chief Minister said that an unvaccinated man in his 20s who works as a contractor at the RAAF Base Tindal near Katherine had returned a "strong positive" result on Thursday evening after developing symptoms on Tuesday.
Mr Gunner said this was the first case of community transmission in the NT as the positive case has not recently travelled outside the Territory.
His five household contacts were subsequently tested, the a second case being announced earlier today.
They have all now been transferred to Howard Springs.

RAAF Base Tindal, which was initially an exposure site, has since been removed from the list.
