A 65-year-old helicopter pilot involved in a routine outback mustering operation has died in a crash in the Katherine region.

The man's chopper came down on Limbunya Station in the Victoria River region near the West Australian border.
When Yarralin and Kalkarindji police arrived at the crash site they confirmed the pilot's death.
He was the only person on board.
Top End Mustering said the pilot was highly experienced.
"First and foremost we wish to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the pilot involved as well as our own team who are devastated by this loss," the company said in a statement.
"The safety of our employees and clients is always our highest priority and we are working closely with relevant authorities in their investigation process."
The company said its focus was on what had occurred and continuing to support family, friends and colleagues of the pilot.
Police said investigations into the crash were continuing and NT WorkSafe had been notified.
A report was also being prepared for the coroner.
Later, Top End Mustering named the pilot as Roger Nowland, releasing a heartfelt statement about the experienced pilot's tragic death:
Top End Mustering, along with the northern aviation industry, is mourning the loss of highly respected pilot, 65-year-old Roger Nowland, following a tragic helicopter accident during routine mustering operations at Limbunya Station.
Roger is remembered by his family, friends and colleagues as a kind, talented and thoughtful human being who was considered a mentor to many young pilots and known for the genuine care he always expressed for his colleagues.
Roger was a modest fellow, particularly given his status as a true legend of the Australian aviation industry. He had an enduring love of the Kimberley Region which he shared with so many.
The team at Top End Mustering is devastated by the passing of their great friend and colleague and are focused on working closely with relevant authorities through their investigation process and supporting those who were lucky enough to know and love Roger.
Roger is survived by his partner Sally, two children, Katie & Robert, and sisters, Sandra & Debi.
