IT WAS standing-room only as the Pine Creek partying and golfing elite hit the Jabiru highway and ventured the 45km to the Moline Golf Club to help celebrate the clubs’ 30th birthday bash.

It was truly a packed house as players and supporters fought to find a spot to camp around the already overflowing venue.
Not a problem for the ‘Creekies’ who headed up to their own little hideaway in Pine Creek Gully with more than 40 people arriving for the festivities.
From the Moline clubs’ first birthday in 1983 the ‘Creekies’ have been an integral part of the annual golf classic which draws competitors and supporters from all around Australia to attend this iconic Territory event.
Currently operating as the longest running golf comp in the NT, the classic is a family-friendly event with several generations represented on and off the course.
The Creekies weren’t successful this year in the stroke play competition on Saturday, with the largest field ever entered at the classic.
It were the big guns from Darwin who lead the way and took home the major awards, but with four teams entered in the Sunday Ambrose the ‘Creekies’ finally made the podium and collected some minor placings.
As has been the case in recent years, everyone headed to Pine Creek Gully for the Saturday night festivities with dancing and music provided by Bunny and Kim Fountain and cocktails whipped up by Maree Thompson.
It was party central until the wee hours with many a sore head in the morning and a strong desire to remain in bed, thanks to the bitterly cold night that saw the mercury fall to around five degrees.
Overall it was another wonderful weekend had by all who attended.
A big thanks to Thommo and Maree from Tropical Refrigeration, Wilsons Hire in Darwin. Harry Gabriel, Stu Ross and family, the Fisher Clan, and members and supporters of the Moline Club Committee for their hard work and course preperation, Bunny, Jed, Troy, Courtney for helping at the shed with wood etc and Bunny and Kim for the entertainment, Chris and Tammy for their kind donation towards the kids entertainment.
And a big thank you to all the ‘Creekies’ and especially the newbies who turned up.
