Rodeo competitors are racing to accumulate end of season points so they can qualify for state and national titles.
“All the best rodeo men, women and juniors are heading to Mataranka,” organiser Tara Fulwood said.
As the final rodeo for the year for the Northern Cowboys Association, organisers have had to cram in as many events as possible for the night.
Starting at 4pm on Saturday at the Mataranka rodeo grounds on the Stuart Highway, with a rodeo after party later, the top 25 cowboys in northern Australia will be competing.
“They are all chasing last points to reach the national finals in Dalby in November,” Ms Fulwood said.
There will be six junior events, and a junior fundraiser to help get the young competitors to Dalby, and a full bar with catered food will on hand.
“There will plenty for the kids and DJ entertainment,” she said.
Prices are $30 for a family pass, $15 per adult and $10 for children.
There will be a Trick Riding and Roping School held in the morning of the rodeo, at the same location from 8am-noon, costing $50 for each discipline per person.
The school will be run by Sarah Hoare and Becky Klingenberg. Shopping stalls will be available.
