Wildcard entry Ashleigh Barty, still just 20, takes on the American who is ranked about 150 places above her.
Katherine Tennis Club went into a lottery draw late last year where Rogers was plucked out to represent the club.
If she wins the tournament, the Katherine club would win $5000.
Rogers is said to be one of the most dangerous unseeded players in the women’s draw, and has proved her worth already, knocking out Simona Halep, who is ranked No. 4 in the world, 6-3, 6-1.
Ranked 52 in the world, Rogers will play Australian wildcard Ashleigh Barty (223) from 7pm tonight.
A talented athlete, Barty gave up tennis last year to pursue a career in women’s cricket but has since returned to the tennis circuit.
Both are fighting for a place in the last 32.
For Katherine, we might have to take an each way bet on this one, barracking for young the Aussie and also for our adopted pro.
