While the NT Department of Health insists the water remains safe to drink, recent tests show it has risen above the allowable 0.07 limit of PFAS.
The government last night said the 0.07 PFAS limit is an average and that average is currently at 0.05 and has remained below the 0.07 limit - even though four individual tests have been above this level
PFAS were the chemicals used in the firefighting foams at the Tindal RAAF Base which have leached into the town’s water supply.
The Katherine Times is being briefed by government officials on what action, if any, citizens should take to the latest testing.
