Game one: Rockers lose to Rebels
First inning
In the first game of the day it was Rebels up against Rockers.
Rebels started the game batting but Rockers were too strong in the field and Rebels first 3 batters couldn’t get to first base.
Rockers then went into bat and brought in 3 runs giving then an early lead.
Second inning
In the second inning Rebels found form and with brought in 5 runs, thanks in part to a 2 base hit to Joni Wilson.
In Rockers second bat Haylee Ross got on with a 2 base hit but was unable to score any runs.
Third inning
In the third inning Rebels powered in 5 more runs to extend their lead with strong batting from Rosie Steward.
In turn Rockers was again unable to score. In the fourth and final innings Rebels batted in 3 more runs to give them a 10 run lead with Rockers having the last bat of the game.
Rockers got on early with safe hits including a 2 base hit to Francine Bain bringing in 5 runs before Rebels made the third and final out with Rebels taking the game 13 runs to Rockers 8.
Best on ground for Rebels was Rosie Stewart batting a perfect 1000 batting average and 5 runs batted in and Justine Cook and Brooke McHugh also shone.
For Rockers best on ground was Francine Bain, Haylee Ross and Dianna Ross.
Game two: Rockers beat Arnhem Crows
First inning
In the second game of the day was Rockers up again against Arnhem Crows.
Both teams played strong in the first inning with Arnhem scoring 2 runs with safe hits while Rockers managed 1 run.
Second inning
In the second inning Arnhem went into bat first and was unable to score while Rockers went on a batting rally bringing in 9 runs with a 2 base hit to Jo Delacouer.
Third inning
In the third and final inning Arnhem went into bat and got working with safe hits to Crystal AhFat and Susan Katherine bringing in 6 runs to bring the scores closer.
Rockers then batted in 2 more runs with a safe hit to Cammie Delacouer.
Time had run out and the game was called with final scores Rockers 12 to Arnhem Crows 8.
Best on ground for Rockers Christine Kopp, Jo Delacoeur and Alysia Bader and for Arnhem Crows Annemarie Lee and Susan Katherine batted a perfect 1000 batting average and Helen shone both fielding and batting.
This Saturday will be the last of the minor round games before finals with Rebels and Arnhem Crows playing the first game at 10.30am followed by Rebels and Rockers then the last game of the day will be between Rockers and Arnhem Crows. The first placed team will enter straight into the Grand Final on Saturday September 2 while second and third place will play off for a grand final position in the Semi Final on Saturday August 26.
