Superintendent Kerry Hoskins said police searched luggage aboard a bus from Queensland and found the wine secreted inside three bags.
“It is alleged that the alcohol was purchased in Mount Isa by a 49-year-old woman with the intention of on-selling it in Tennant Creek,” she said.
“We would like to thank the members of the community who assisted police during this investigation.
“This is an excellent outcome as this amount of alcohol would have had an immediate impact on community safety.”
The woman has been issued a notice to appear in the Tennant Creek Court at a later date.
