The screams of about 300 youth were deafening as the Jamaican-American singer took to the stage at about 7pm.
Security had a tough job trying to hold the frenzied crowd back from the stage.
Children as young as six and as old as 17 elbowed their way past each other to get a spot at the front of the mosh pit.
The star was updating social media throughout his performance, posting videos of the crowd to his Snapchat account.
Sean Kingston is one of the biggest international stars to ever perform in Katherine.
Youth services manager Charles Mbouti said police were pleased with how the event ran.
“Kids with really good school attendance were given signed T shirts by Sean Kingston onstage. All the kids were really happy and excited,” Mr Mbouti said.
“It was a really great event and I think it showed the community that we are back.”
Mr Mbouti said Sean Kingston enjoyed performing to the Katherine crowd.
“He was very happy and I know he liked staying at Cicada Lodge, he said it was very beautiful,” Mr Mbouti said.
“I think he wanted to do a helicopter ride over the gorge today.”
The singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer released his first album at age 17 in 2007.
As well as his worldwide mega-hit ‘Beautiful Girls’, the crooner is known for other hits like ‘Eenie Meenie’ which he co wrote with Justin Bieber.
