The eight-tonne block with its yet-to-be revealed laser engraved inscriptions will be revealed at an official opening next year.
The Cenotaph is moving from its venerated home near the Katherine high-level bridge to a wider expanse in Railway Terrace.
Katherine RSL Sub-branch president Scott Lander said it was the culmination of 13 years of hard work by the local branch.
Mr Lander said he wanted to thank Cosa Cranes and Katherine Towing for the latest addition to the project, the huge block from Adelaide.
He said Remembrance Day, held earlier in the month, was the final ceremony to be held at the former cenotaph.
The next ceremony, and the first for the new Cenotaph, would be the 76th anniversary of the bombing of Katherine in March.
That would be followed by the big Anzac Day ceremony in April.
“It has been a lot of work, a lot of fund raising but it is all coming together now,” Mr Lander said.
Katherine Town Council workers were on hand to help the huge stone in position using a clever technique of dropping the stone on about 40 blocks on ice so the crane straps could be slid away and letting the stone melt into immovable place.
