The self described slow travellers have just spent five months in Kununurra, Western Australia avoiding the Top End cyclones.
But the pair are back in their favourite place in Australia, and looking forward to spending time in the hot climate.
Having visited Katherine four times over the years, Mr and Mrs King keep coming back for the laid back atmosphere and the helpful people in town.
“We love to stop here to swap yarns with the others travelling through, and you can’t miss Katherine, all roads lead to Katherine,” Mr King said.
However, the couple said they like to avoid the masses of travellers that swarm the town when the dry season hits.
During their visit, they plan on re-visiting the hot spots and utilising the local services.
While Mr and Mrs King say they love the camper van life more than anything, they admit that it will have to come to an end at some point, though hopefully not soon.
The big question is where.
“It’s got to be tropical, and we really like the ocean,” Mrs King said.
“But the NT is looking good,” she said.
Mr and Mrs King will be travelling to Darwin on Friday to visit friends and continue their slow trip through Australia.
