Just eight weeks away from celebrating her 103rd birthday, Nadia Pascoe passed away on July 1.

“She was always on the go,” eldest daughter of seven, Neila Boyle said.

“She had a long life, always gardening or crocheting.

“We have no idea how she lived to such a great age, it might be because she’s Russian,” she said.

Born in 1915, Nadia Pascoe settled in Katherine until 1975 before heading south seeking cooler weather.

Daughter Neila Boyle, born in Katherine and still calls the town home, said her mother often spoke about “the olden days”.

Living and raising seven children on a peanut farm, Ms Boyle said her mother loved everything about Katherine except for the weather.

“She was in CWA and then when us kids went to school she’d cook the pasties for the picnics.

“Everyone loved her pasties, she was a good cook,” she said.

A funeral was held on July 6 at Centennial Park Cemetery, Adelaide.

Ms Boyle said many friends and family attended the funeral.

“She was visited by many friends and family in her nursing home.

“She was healthy and happy, mum was alright to her last day,” Ms Boyle said.
