With nervous excitement I watched the short teaser, just days before it premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in America at the beginning of this month.
In a few quick seconds my chances of becoming a fully fledged actress became a reality.
I had made the cut and I was going to be on the big screen in front of millions – a life-long dream, of course.
If my career as a journalist fizzles I know which school I am heading to next.

While I may have only played a small part in the film – alongside 20 other budding actors – (you have to pause the trailer at exactly the right moment to really catch us in action) I am guessing all of the trappings will be pulled out at the only premiere that counts – the outdoor screening at Nitmiluk in May.
Not every premiere has the film’s stars in attendance.
How will the organisers cope with that much celebrity in one spot?
Will we each get our own dressing room to prepare for our walk down the red carpet?
Who walks first? We all played the same part.
None of us can claim the biggest role and I am pretty sure Miranda Tapsell (the real star) is busy that night and won’t be in attendance.
While there are still about three months until my big debut, there is much to prepare.
My dress, of course, and a date (any takers? I promise to not be too much of a diva).
I have been practicing my signature since year three in preparation for this very day, as I am sure fans will be lining up for my autograph, pictures of me in hand.
Most importantly though, I have been preparing my answer to the inevitable “what’s next?” question.
I won’t be able to avoid the producers, directors and publicists attending the screening who will want to talk shop with me and ask me to star in their upcoming blockbuster.
I have thought long and hard about it, and for right now I am happy in Katherine.
“Thanks, but no thanks” will be my polite answer when they ask me to be in their up-and-coming film.
At least until a role alongside one of the Hemsworth brothers comes up.
Count me in for that.
