At the close of rolls this week, Katherine had 6135 voters on the roll.
The quota as determined by the Australian Electoral Commission for a single representative to the NT Parliament is 5511.
There were 5285 voters on the roll for the 2016 election which saw Labor's Sandra Nelson elected to Katherine.
The 2019 NT Electoral Boundary Redistribution is currently under way.
The AEC has already been told Katherine voters may have to elect two members of parliament at the 2020 NT election.
There are proposals to create a new electorate absorbing a big chunk of Katherine.
Current Katherine MLA Ms Nelson has already indicated she would not be re-contesting the 2020 election while Arnhem is held by Selena Uibo.
