A two-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool in Katherine on Wednesday.
St John Paramedics and Katherine Police were called to the tragic scene after the boy had been pulled from the water unconscious.
Northern Territory Police Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Hamlyn said the family immediately commenced CPR and called the ambulance.
"St John Ambulance attended and transported the child to Katherine District Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased," he said.
"In respect for the family no further details will be released."
