The award was presented at the official opening at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre last night.
The annual Katherine Prize encourages indigenous and non-indigenous residents of the Northern Territory to develop their art practice and showcase their skill to the region.
The NT's longest running art prize celebrates Katherine's diverse and artistically living community.
Presented in a range of venues and formats over its long history, the awards are open to anyone who has been a resident of the Territory for at least 12 months.
The winning artist receives a prize of $5000, as part of the Brian and Jeannette Lambert Award.
Danny Murphy is well known for his magnificent large terra cotta pots and urns are created with incredible variation in colours, patterns and textures using local clay in the colouring process.
Danny's work is held in numerous private and corporate collections through Australia and overseas and is now a major feature throughout Cicada Lodge.
