The Hughes - Andrew (41) and Nicola (36) are travelling Australia by tandem bikes with their two young children, Hope (5) and Wilfy (3).
They are 7000km into a 12,000 km journey across remote parts of the country and passed through Katherine on the weekend.
They packed their belongings into a shipping container, rented out their house, bought two tandems bikes and are exploring Australia by pedal power.
After beginning by riding down their own driveway they have made their way to the NT all under pedal power.
Along the way there was an accident which saw Nic and Wilfy hit the gravel and lose some skin, making the family question if it was an achievable goal.

Through riding up to 70km per day and camping along the roadside they have persevered for six months.
The purpose of the journey is to challenge peoples perception of adventure and what children are capable of in this modern world of convenience and instant gratification
With young people spending more time indoors, and getting less physical activity than ever before in history it is timely to reimagine what children are capable of.
By meeting ordinary Australians and documenting their local stories it is also a chance to test the common bonds that make Australians proud of their patch.
The story is being documented for primary school classrooms to follow through weekly videos and specially written education content called the Swag Family.
