The Katherine Rotary Club has been hard at work fundraising to equip and renovate the new clubhouse, the Rotary Training Room.
Club secretary Chris Dixon said the renovation was courtesy of the patrons of the Katherine Speedway, and some of its own funds.
"The room was built almost 25 years ago by volunteers and over time had fallen into a very tatty state."
Friends of Rotary Jeremy Dixon and Margie Zoetelief helped clean and paint the walls.
1Set Construction cleaned, prepared and painted the ceiling for free.
Custom Cabinets have installed new kitchen cabinets and Scatts did the plumbing.
A community grant of $2000 from Katherine Town Council, and a helpful donation from Benash, is helping equip the club.
Mr Dixon said the team at Coffey, who have been working on the Tindal RAAF Base upgrade, have donated some equipment and desks.
Part of the agenda for the opening week will be a geocache search.
Andrew Highet and Raima Baker are creating the caches.
Participants will have to register for the event, and they will have a week to search, locate and sign the notebook that is in the cache.
There will be a demonstration of drones, a driving simulator; the seniors will be demonstrating the new skills that they have learned and there will be prizes for a number of competitions.
"We would love to hear from people who may be able to demonstrate game playing skills and Virtual Reality."
Free sausage sandwiches cooked by the Rotarians will be available from 2pm-5pm on October 25. Everyone will be welcome.
