The by-election was held on Saturday September 11, with Chief Minister Michael Gunner taking to Facebook to declare victory around 7.30 that evening.
"Tonight's historic victory in Daly - the first time ever that a government has won a seat off the opposition in a by-election - is incredibly humbling," Mr Gunner said.
"Dheran Young is a decent, honest and hardworking Territorian - and he will be a terrific Labor Member for Daly.

"We are especially grateful for the overwhelming support the bush has shown us. We don't take that support for granted - and we will work even harder to keep your trust."
ABC election analyst Antony Green called the election for Labor shortly before Mr Gunner's post.
According to the NT Electoral Commission, Mr Young received 1528 primary votes, just ahead of CLP candidate Kris Civitarese.
The election was called after the previous MLA, the CLP's Ian Sloan announced he was standing down last month.
Labor now holds 15 of the 25 seats in the NT's Legislative Assembly.
