A major crash investigation is being carried out after a woman died when allegedly struck by a vehicle near Timber Creek late on Thursday night.

Northern Territory Police said they received reports that a women had been hit on the Victoria Highway, 40km east of Timber Creek, at 11.40pm.

Emergency Services attended, however, the woman was declared dead.
Police said that traffic diversions were in place as major crash detectives investigate the incident.
