Katherine Terrace is about to get a whole lot brighter.
The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) has committed to improving pedestrian safety in the Katherine region with works to install new smart LED street lights, which started this week.
The LED street light installation is currently underway on Katherine Terrace between O’Shea Terrace and Chambers Drive.
The works on this street are expected to be completed by September 17.
An NT Government spokeswoman said $550,000 were committed to the upgrades as part of the government’s Towards Zero Action Plan.
The installation of LED street lights will “improve road and pedestrian safety,” she said.
Last year, Katherine Town Council began to replace all of the town’s streetlights with 855 smart LED lighting fixtures.
