Despite a large funeral in town for Katherine footballer Warren Berto, attracting around 500 people, stall holders said there was a good crowd.
Attendees would have seen some of the mainstay stalls from last year - including Katherine's favourite waving man selling his plants at the entrance, Thai food, and coffee - plus a couple of new ones.
Ranger Clare from NT Parks and Wildlife was on hand to talk all things nature, especially crocodiles.
And there were plenty of stalls selling homemade crafts, clothes and bags.
While there were concerns earlier in the month the market would not go ahead, the new committee is ensuring the community event runs smoothly for the dry season.
The committee has confirmed stalls would be open to travellers and grey nomads.
And the night market is on the cards in the near future too.
The Katherine Community Market will be held weekly on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.
