Officials have no way of contacting the winner to break the exciting news as the entry was not registered to a Tatts Card.
This is not the first time a lottery mystery has emerged. Last year a Katherine man won $2,013,144.80.
However, as his ticket was unregistered, the mystery of the missing lottery winner was the talk of the town for five weeks, until he finally checked the ticket that had been stuck on his fridge the whole time.
The winning entry was purchased at Casuarina Nextra News in Darwin.
Casuarina Nextra News manager Melissa Peacock said she hoped the winner checked their ticket soon and realised they'd won big.
"We are all so excited here and are hoping this prize has gone to one of our local and regular customers," she said.
"We definitely hope the winner comes forward soon.
"This is the first big win we've had in a little while so we're very happy."
Tatts spokeswoman Lauren Cooney said she was eager to unite the player with their prize.
"We love delivering life-changing news and we can't wait to break this news to our latest Lucky Lotteries winner," she said.
"If you had an entry into today's Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw, we promise it could be absolutely worthwhile for you to check your ticket now.
"If you realise you are holding the division one winning ticket, contact Tatts on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize."
The Northern Territory entry won the guaranteed 1st Prize in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1298, drawn Friday 3 May 2019.
