Entries for cooking, art, garden and equestrian classes are already rolling in think and fast.
The annual event, now in its 54th year, draws thousands of people through the gates over a packed two days.
Show Officer, Patricia Glackin, is expecting this year will surpass the more than 20,000 show attendees last year with the Christmas in July theme.
"Last year our theme was '20 years on from the flood', so we wanted something less serious and more fun and light this year," she said.
"Christmas in July is very family friendly and it is easy to incorporate Christmas into entries, from making a Christmas cake to a Christmas card, it goes hand in hand."
Keeping to the theme, Santa Claus will officially open the show and he'll be making his jolly self known across the three days.
It has been a busy couple of months for the show society as the event looms closer.
The team has organised extra competitions and events and a whole new play area for small children.
In her second year as show organiser, Ms Glackin is most looking forward to seeing the myriad entries submitted to the classes.
Each year hundreds of people spend countless hours perfecting recipes, tending to plants and working on art pieces in the hopes of claiming first prize.
"Essentially the entries are the fabric of a rural show," Ms Glackin said.
"[The Katherine Show] has been going for more than 50 years and there are so many lifelong members and people who have put years and years of hard work into their craft."
She said the show was an opportunity for the community to come together as a whole.
"We have a big land mass here in the Territory, but not as many shows as other parts of Australia.
"The show really brings a buzz to the town. You have people from all over the NT come in; people from rural areas, Darwin, the grey nomads and backpackers.
"There is something for everyone to get involved in."
As with previous years, show attendees can look forward to campdraft and the rodeo, plenty of stalls, fireworks, a dog show and V8 races.
General class entries close on June 21.
