"We were honoured to have 20 elders from the Banatjarl Strongbala Wimun Group officially welcome us to county with a special smoking ceremony opening morning," Mr Gualtieri said.
He said the store was doing well in Katherine and had been well received by local shoppers.
While in town, the team had the opportunity to visit Barunga community where Kmart had previously donated towards a Remote Laundries project.
The project, run by Aboriginal Investment Group, supplies laundry facilities to local community members so that bedding and clothing can be washed hygienically, free of charge.
Mr Gualtieri said the introduction of the K hub stores had resulted in a doubling of the Kmart Group regional workforce across the country, with 1,008 Target team members and 1,000 new recruits
