The Health Service held a free morning tea on Thursday to commemorate NAIDOC Week and to engage with the community about the work they do.
Coordinator of Wurli-Wurlinjang's StrongBala Justice Program and NAIDOC Week Committee Member Eric Thomas said promoting walk-in appointments for the COVOID-19 vaccines was one of their priorities.
He said the organisation was working with community leaders and health professionals to promote the vaccine.
More news:
"Probably like everywhere, it (the vaccine) probably needs more promotion and more access," he said.
"Just having doctors and medical staff on hand to provide information and answer questions...we'll see what we can do to make people aware that they're there and available."
Ms Thomas said the annual NAIDOC Week morning tea was usually just held for the elderly, but they decided to open it to the whole community this year.
"We're trying to have a bit more of an interaction with the community, promoting our programs, providing a bit of a morning tea for everyone to get together and celebrate NAIDOC Week."
