Rod & Rifle TackleWorld owner Trent de With has recruited a number of family and friends to put on a Christmas lights display at the Lindsey Street complex for several nights in the lead up to Christmas.
Mr de With said local businesses and individuals immediately threw their support behind the cause, with around 60 local sponsors getting on board in just a few days.
"They're not looking for recognition, they just want the town to have something Christmassy. So they just want to contribute whatever they can," he said
"It's snowballed that much that financially, we can only buy so many lights...so what we're doing now with the money that people are donating is we're buying about 1000 Christmas presents and on Christmas Eve, Santa is going to hand out a present to every kid that's there."

He said the event is going to be even bigger than anticipated thanks to the support of local businesses.
"The initial plan was just to have it somewhere where families could come sit down, chill out, and kids could walk around and look at the lights," he said.
"And now...a few of the market vendors and the food vendors are coming along. We've also now got a couple of snow machines for the kids."
The event will also feature Christmas movie screenings and Christmassy vehicles like helicopters and cars for kids to explore and have photos taken in.
The celebrations kick off this weekend, with the display set to be open on; December 10 and 11, 17 and 18, and 23 and 24 from 6.30pm to 9pm at the Lindsey Street Complex.
Meanwhile, the Town Christmas Tree has been erected in Katherine's Town Square, with the lights going on every night in December.
Entries for Katherine Town Council's Christmas Light Competition are open until December 12, with cash prizes of up to $500 on offer for the winners.
