NT Police have confirmed a 23-year-old woman who was killed after being struck by a car Timber Creek was a resident of the community.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Corey Borton said the woman was among a group in a car which broke down on the highway, forcing them to pull over in the dark.
The 23-year-old was struck by a passing vehicle around 11.30pm and passed away despite the efforts of emergency services.

"Investigations into the actions taken by the driver after the crash is ongoing," Sgt Borton said.
"The driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs and speed has been ruled out as a contributing factor."
