The women's Camels were forced to forfeit the competition last year after being greatly affected by COVID-19, however the team is ready to bounce back in 2022 having commenced training in January.
"Pre-season training has been running for the Camel's men and women teams since mid-January. Monday trainings have been held at the Katherine Indoor Sports Centre and Wednesday's are held at the Katherine Showgrounds from 6pm," Camels co-captain Sarah Assmus said.
"The ladies have been training twice a week, and often train with the men's team to increase their skills and fitness levels.
"Trainings have also been followed by multiple team barbecues to allow the girls to bond and socialise. We have also been successful in obtaining a Toyota Good for Footy Grant which will be used towards new uniforms for the ladies."

The women's Camels team is one of six in the Big Rivers AFLW competition this year, with round one commencing Saturday April 16.
The women's team will be coached by Rodney Hoffman, who joined the club as a coach mid-way through last season.
"The Camels ladies have been working hard since January to recruit more players for the 2022 season," Ms Assmus said.
"They have had a larger presence on the Camels social media pages which has been successful in getting more girls interested and down to training.
"Unfortunately the ladies did not have strong team management in the 2021 season, which has definitely changed and improved this year with two ladies putting up their hand to be Women's Coordinator."
Ms Assmus said AFL had always been a popular sport in the Territory.
"It has definitely grown over the years as more and more local Territorians have played at a professional level," she said.
"Even in the AFLW it is amazing to see familiar faces who you have played with/against. It is also great that footy is more accessible for people in the NT with some of our remote communities putting teams into the competition."
