Screening a selection of films direct from Sundance 2019, the film festival brings with it award-winning Australian producer Krisitna Ceyton for the Opening Night film The Nightingale.
Ms Ceyton will introduce the screening, and engage in an audience Q and A after the film on Friday, February 8.
The producer is known for her work films such as The Babadook, Cargo, starring Martin Freeman, and I Used To Be Normal: A Boyband Fangirl Story.

Her latest film The Nightingale is a historical revenge tale set in 1890’s Van Dieman’s Land, following a young Irish convict through the unforgiving wilds of 19th century Tasmania.
“We can’t wait to bring Kristina to Katherine as a special guest of the Festival,” festival manager Sanam Rodrigues said.
“The local Katherine community will be treated to a Q and A by one of Australia’s most exciting producers, as she takes audience questions and shares behind-the-scenes stories from her excellent new film.”
Also screening will be a selection of award-winning films from Cannes Film Festival, such as: Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Shoplifters, winner of the most coveted film prize in the world, the Palme d’Or; winner of Best Director Prize, Cold War from Oscar-winning filmmaker Paweł Pawlikowski; Best Actor winner Dogman by Italian director Matteo Garrone; and winner of the Grand Jury Prize, Nadine Labaki’s Capharnaüm, which examines the poorest slums of Lebanon through the eyes of a child.
Tickets to the film festival are currently on sale for $14.50 adult / $12.50 concession / $10 student/children and can be purchased on the website here.
The film festival runs for three days from Friday, February 8 – Sunday, February 10.
